Collateral Damage.
Arnold Schwarzenegger film which wasn't released in the aftermath of Sept 11
as the main character is a fireman (so what?). Not quite your typical Arnie
fare. Slightly more thought gone into it, but not much. There are some good
action sequences (as you'd expect) and some moralising about terrorism etc
etc, but it's not bad if you want to kill 90 minutes. I'm ashamed to say the
transparent twist at the end fooled me as well :-(
6/10
Enemy at the gates.
Kinda knew a bit about this before watching it, but not too much. The
opening few scenes are very, very well shot in the style of Saving Private
Ryan with the terror and complete injustice coming across very well indeed.
Although the film-makers have taken some poetic license with the actual
story, it still comes across very well, with only one or two plot holes.
Jude Law and that Feinnes bloke are very good, as is Rachel Weiss (sp?).
8/10
Swordfish.
Well, if you can ignore the absolute bollox about hacking in the film, it's
actually very good. Travolta is rapidly becoming my favourite baddie, Hugh
Jackman was good as the 'hero' and Halle Berry is stunning as the female
lead. Some of the driving scenes are very well done and Vinnie Jones only
has about 3 lines and the slow-mo bomb scene is very cleverly done, in a
Matrix-stylee.
Oh, and Travolta's openign monologue is probably worth the price of
admission itself. Did I mention Halle Berry is stunning?
